Current Event 11/05/07

Current Event

Launch scheduled, despite system bug.

NASA will try again Sunday to launch Atlantis, even though engineers are unable to repair or even explain a recurring problem with the shuttle's fuel sensors. Liftoff of Atlantis and its seven astronauts will come at 3:21 p.m. -- if the sensors don't act up again as the shuttle is fueled Sunday morning and if nothing else goes wrong. The deadline leaves engineers with too little time to examine the sensors, but mission managers believe they have found a way to work around the problem. The crew is assigned to spend 11 days in space, delivering a European laboratory to the International Space Station.
